This 4 Day Errachidia to Marrakech with Sahara Camel Trek journey takes you to explore a mesmerizing and fascinating landscapes of the big South,Ziz Valley rich and full of million palm trees), the sand dunes of Erg Chebbi. In the desert, you will have the opportunity to ride a camel or participate in other activities such as sand-boarding, quad biking and the highest, breathing the fresh air of green lush valleys ,narrowest gorges in Morocco, visiting traditional kasbahs,passing through the High Atlas Mountain.
Day 2: Erfoud – Merzouga – Erg Chebbi Camel Trekking
You will be picked up from the hotel at 9:30am and discover Erfoud — the famous fossil capital and home of the international date festival. Then we will off road to visit the Berber Nomads and drive to a Berber village where there is a beautiful panoramic view followed by lunch. In the afternoon, we will drive to Erg Chebbi dunes, you will relax in the hotel before starting the camel trek.
Before we leave for the desert, the camels will be packed with water, food, blankets, and everything else which we will need for the trip. Each person will have their own camel and the ride will take 1.5 hours to reach the inside the dunes.
You will arrive to your own private tent and then you can walk in the dunes to watch the beautiful sunset and try sand boarding on the sand dunes. After seeing the sun set, you will go down back to the camp to enjoy mint tea (what we call Moroccan Berber Whiskey!). Then you will have your meal of delicious Moroccan Berber tagine in the camp. After dinner, the party will start. Local Berber nomad musicians will play traditional music with drums and dancing and afterwards you will watch the magical sky full of stars and enjoy the peaceful desert. Dinner and overnight in nomad camp.
Tents have various amenities depending on your selection including beds, electricity, private bathroom with shower, and air conditioning (please let us know which amenities you would like for an accurate quote).
Day 3: Merzouga – Rissani – Todra Gorges – Dades valley– Ouarzazate
Awake in the morning to the gentle calling of your guide to see the sun rise over the dunes of the Sahara. We will ride camels back from Desert Camp to Merzouga for breakfast and showers. Our journey will then take us to Ouarzazate through the Berber villages of the atlas mountains: Tinjdad, Tinghir, Todra Gorges, and Boumalene-du-Dades. We will arrive to Ouarzazate in evening for dinner and our stay in the riad.
Day 4: Ouarzazate – Ait Benhaddou – High Atlas mountains – Marrakech
Leaving Ouarzazate in the morning, we will head back to Marrakech with visits to Berber Villages and stops in the Atlas Mountains. Along our way, we will visit the UNESCO World Heritage site Kasbah Ait Benhaddou, famous for films such as The Man Who Would Be King, Jewel of the Nile, Jesus of Nazareth, The Message, Lawrence of Arabia, The Mummy, and Gladiator.
