15 DAYS GRAND TOUR OF MOROCCO

DAY 1 : CASABLANCA :

Will meet you at your arrival time for you transfer to your hotel, Depending on the arrival time, it is possible to make first visits, the biggest attraction from Casablanca is the Hassan II Mosque, which you will visit the next day.

DAY 2 : CASABLANCA > RABAT > CHEFCHAOUEN :

Will visit the Hassan Tower in Rabat and then drive directly to Chefchaouen through the city of Knitra, overviewing Wazzan and some Rifian villages. Our team and you will be in Chefchaouen by the early afternoon.

DAY 3 : CHEFCHAOUEN :

All day in Chefchaoun to discover one of the most beautiful destinations in Morocco, one of the magical cities at the feet of the Rif.  TheChefchaouen medina, had a Spanish-style square surrounded by many funky arts and crafts stores, roof-top restaurants and cafes where you will spend your night in a nice place to enjoy the breeze and the beauty of nature.

DAY 4 : CHEFCHAOUEN – VOLUBILIS – MEKNES – FEZ :

Take breakfast in the riad, our exciting journey will start towards Volubilis, crossing via Wazan and other Rif. In Volubilis as historical landscape, our team will visit the Roman ruins andlet you explore the archeological site and its Morrocan history.  After visiting the ruins, we will make our way to Meknes, a city with a 17th century heritage.the team will stop in this place for lunch and hang out at the historical huge walls of the medina, Bab el Mansour and enjoy a visit to Moulay Ismail’s shrine .After the visit to Meknes we will drive to Fes city, and you spend the night.

DAY 5 : FEZ SIGHTSEEING

In your riad, you will start exploring the oldest city in Morocco, walking in its alleys and small streets. Our visit starts by visiting the Royal Palace gate, the Jewish headquarters, the first Mellah ever built in Morocco, built during the 16th century. We will ensure that you visit all sites with a cultural and historical interest including the famous Al Qaraouine University, the oldest in Morocco and the World, the, the Attarine museum, Tanneries, and Mulay Idriss mausoleum. After having lunch, our team and you will pay a visit the tiles cooperative and then experience a wonderful panoramic view over the whole medina of Fes.

DAY 6 : FEZ > MIDELT :

Travelling towards Ifran, a beautiful mountain village, known as “the Switzerland of Morocco”, because of its landscapes, and then to Midelt city. In this journey you’ll enjoy glimpses of the Middle Atlas and Higher Atlas mountains. Overlooking Azrou, where the biggest forest exists in Morocco – where you will see apes. After a break, within the forest, your travel keeps moving to Midelt and its  great hills and the neighbouring  mountains. In this city you will be accommodated in a cosy hotel, called Taddarte, and of course dinner is covered.

DAY 7 : MIDELT , ZIZ VALLEY TO ERFOUD AND MERZOUGA

The day starts with breakfast in your hotel; our team and you will direct to Merzouga through Errachidia. And you will go through the fascinating Tizi(pass) Ntalghamt and the Ziz Gorge, overviewing the High Atlas plateau. You’ll observe how the scenery changes to reveal beginnings of the desert as you come closer the city of Errachidia, where you will have lunch and see the Berber hospitality and generosity.  After this, you will travel alongside the fantastic Ziz Valley, having a break for panoramic sightseeing along the way to Erfoud and Rissani.  Our team and You will arrive at Merzouga afternoon. You’ll be welcomed with a glass of mint tea before you start your camel ride to spend an overnight at the desert camp with Berber music and sand boarding.

DAY 8 : OUARZAZATE – DRAA VALLEY – MERZOUGA DESERT – CAMEL RIDE AND NIGHT IN THE BERBER TENT

The day begins with breakfast as we will depart towards the Draa Valley where you can see one of the longest rivers in Morocco. On the way we have some breaks for taking pictures. Of course it is to enjoy the view of the widespread kasbahs and berber villages which dot the road as well as the beauties of the Draa valley. You´ll have some free time for lunch  in Nkob or Alnif,(distance btewwen them is about 100 km)  and then, after two hours driving we´ll reach the wonderful Merzouga dunes. “Desert of powdery sand dunes”.  We´ll change there our motorized transportation for one of animal traction to go to the desert. When we reach the camp, we accommodate in the tents, that are tents made of camel hair, just like the ones used by nomad families.  Dinner and night in the berber tent under a beautiful time looking up to the sky decorated with moving stars and a clear view.

DAY 9: MERZOUGA – LOCAL FAMILIES –OASIS – KHAMLIA VILLAGE – ERG CHEBBI

This is a complete Desert day. If you are in the middle of the desert, it`s worthy of getting up early to witness the beautiful sunrise you might have  ever seen sitting on a dune nearby the camp and enjoy this landscape that is a gift of nature. After sunrise wego back to Merzouga on the camels where a hearty breakfast is waiting for us. Therefore, we`ll skirt the Erg Chebbi, great extension of sandy desert where we can find  the Big Dune of Morocco. That has more than 250mts high. Our team and you continue then by the road and ends in the mountains that limit with Agelia. Stop at Tissardmin oasis where we can find fossil quarries still present in the area, we continue then by a road where we can see nomad settlements and learn their secrets and manners. The next stop will be at a viewpoint to contemplate the hole Erg Chebbi. We`ll reach then Kamilia Village, where we´ll take a cup of tea meanwhile we listen to a concert of the spiritual music of Gnawa.Transfer to your accommodation and free afternoon to enjoy the town or the dunes next to the hotel to see the sunset. Dinner and night in the hotel.

DAY 10: DADES VALLEY – AIT BEN HADDOU KASBAH IN OUARZAZETTE – THEN MARRAKECH :

The day begins with breakfast in the hotel, and you will travel through the Dades Valley towards Kalaa M’gouna and Ouarzazat. The route across Dades Valley offers numerous opportunities to take some of your best photographic shots of the trip in both the valley, famous for its roses and the cinema city of Ouarzazate.  We will pass by by Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah. the largest Kasbah in Morocco, built by T-hami El Glaoui, one of the last Berber chieftains. It is now a UNESCO heritage site. After that, we will begin to cross the high Atlas mountains with many differently panoramic views and attractive Berber villages all along the way till marrakech 

DAY 11 : MARRAKECH – ESSAOUIRA :

The hustle and bustle of Marrakech quickly slips away as you travel to and enter into the peace and beauty that is Essaouira. This ancient citadel on the West Atlantic coast of Africa literally means “wall” in the Berber language, and you’ll soon discover why. Travelers from all over the world come here to experience the very special weather, and explore its diverse and unique history.

when we leave Marrakech, we drive through lush valleys filled with orange groves, ancient olive trees and working farms on the drive to the coast. After a short while, we arrive in Chichaoua, where we can take a short break for a coffee or snack at Cafe Afoulki.

DAY 12 : ESSAOUIRA – MARRAKECH :

As usual the breakfast is taken in your riad, and you depart back to Marrakech. On the way – since this is the land of Argan culture – this is an opportunity to visit the women’s co-operative of Argan oil where they extract the oil that is famous for its culinary, cosmetic and medical properties.  After several breaks to take photographs, you will continue your travel to Marrakech and check-in to your riad.After dinner you will enjoy walking in the square of Jemaa Elfna, entertained by magicians, story tellers, musicians and snake charmers. Overnight in a riad in the Medina.

DAY 13 : MARRAKECH SIGHTSEEING :

After breakfast in the riad, you can start exploring Marrakech “the reddish city of Morocco”.  We will ensure that you see the most important sites of historical and cultural interest, including the Majorelle Gardens, the Koutoubia Tower, the Saadian tombs, the Bahia Palace. After lunch at a restaurant near the square, you will walk through the souks (local markets) and view hundreds of handicrafts. Afternoon, you will have some free time to wander by yourself through the other parts of the city .

DAY 14 : FREE DAY IN MARRAKECH:

Today you will be on your own and if you would like to have a cooking class, DesertDayTours Team will help to arrange it for you.

DAY 15 :  TRANSFER TO THE AIRPORT :
